The BBC show in the marquee was an absolute cracker. The club entered the venue immaculately thanks to Dale Morris as we all sported this seasons tops.
We had a fitting 10 bell tribute to two great men Lawrence Best & Jeff Ellis.
We got underway with 2 skills bouts from ‘HURRICANE’ Harper Ashton and William ‘THE CONQUERER’ Davison.
We had 2 quality regional championship semifinals.
The competitive boxing got underway for The BBC and we had some fantastic performances, with victories for Ella ‘MIGHTY’ Myers, Mia ‘THE PITBULL’ Gardener, ‘LIGHTNING’ Lewis Patterson, Josh ‘THE MAGICIAN’ McLoughlin, Oscar ‘MAD DOG’ McDonough, Leo ‘THE LION’ McLean, Alex ‘CYCLONE’ Ulyatt and John ‘TNT’ Dixon.
Two very tight spilt decisions against Alfie ‘BOMBER’ Ellis and Harley ‘CHAOS’ Cairns.
The awards went to Mia ‘THE BBC PITBULL’ Gardener who ground down her opponent to take best schoolboy/girl.
Oscar ‘MAD DOG’ McDonough who got best junior. Well deserved ya lad who entered the gym at over 80Kgs last night boxed at 65Kg.
Best bout went to John ‘TNT’ Dixon and Rotunda’s strong Terence Brown. The tent nearly took off Into orbit as they made their entrances and in a back and forth contest John got the victory.
Appreciate all the clubs who travelled to the show, as well as Tyne Tees & Wear we had clubs as far as Scotland and Liverpool.
A special mention to William ‘The Conquerer’ Davison who has been at the club for over 7years. William has autism and when he first joined struggled to enter the gym, he had a skills bout in front of his proud mam and dad, as well as 400 other people.
What an emotional moment for the everyone.
These kids wouldn’t be able to compete in these events if it wasn’t for the dedicated coaches who give up their time every night at the club. A great set of people.
The club would like to thank our sponsors who help us make these events possible, and keep the club going from strength to strength.
