How long have you been involved in boxing?
About 4 years but training only 2 because of Covid.

I just turned up to try it on the first day.

What does it mean for you to be a boxer?
It means a lot. I am the only female in my club but it doesn’t bother me. I LOVE IT
What kind of diet do you prefer?
I hate to diet, I prefer the one where I can eat what I want Ha!

If you could share the ring and spar with any boxer, past or present who would it be and why?
Katie Taylor. One day I want to achieve what she has, I want to go all the way through the amateurs and then the Pro’s.
What one word describes you?
CONFIDENT , cheeky at times but I get along with anyone and everyone.
How do you prepare for a bout?
A lot of hard work in the gym, hard pads off my coach Danny and hard rounds of sparring.
ITS ALWAYS HARD NEVER A EASY SESSION.
What do you hope to achieve in the sport?
EVERYTHING Defo a gold medal at the next Europeans. I also want to win a national title at every age group.
After boxing what do you hope to do?
Not sure yet, retire and go on holidays.
What is your biggest achievement to date?
Winning two national schoolgirl championships and a silver medal at this year’s Europeans, losing by only one point.
What was your toughest bout?
The Turkish girl Nisa Gursoy in the Semi finals of the Europeans, she was awkward and strong.
Coaches remarks
I can remember her walking in first day ONLY FEMALE BOXER. Didn’t speak a word. After first session I thought she probably wouldn’t be back, being the only girl. Next session she was back. After a month or so you could see how naturally gifted she was. Some kids don’t have that they have to graft like f### for it. Layla took to it like a duck to water, anything you showed her she could do.
